Write or no to write that is the question

Image
It is up to you whether you want to write or not, some people don't and that is okay, but if you do but you find it hard to fit it in, then start to spend some time going through your diary and set a timer to write 10 mins once a day, and before you know it, you have written a lot of words, and creating it into a daily habit. Some people find it easy to do some writing in the morning, I like to do mine mainly in the afternoon or evening, and I will listen to music or a podcast, and get into the zone, and forget what is around me.  I find following the sprints by fellow authors on Youtube on Double Down Day, really resouceful and helpful.  I am now on my fourth edit and feel my book is really coming together and really wanted to complete the book and make it into a book you can't put down. I love thrillers, comedy and crime, with history included, along with self help books and managing life, type books. I am currently listening on Audible Atomic Habits , and reading book calle...

Writing in the Autumn

Image
It is a busy time of year for me and so getting writing done can be challenging, because of being a mum aswell as a writer, because there are birthdays, important dates for Henry's school and then there is Christmas, and I hate shopping during the festive season, as the shops can get mobbed and I avoid Black Friday altogether, so plan ahead.  I have done a plan as I am editing my new book I am planning on publishing this year, but it is a long process, because attention to detail, making sure that the story comes together and it matches up, and is a good read. Also because it can start to get chilly I have to make sure that the rooms I use to write, are a good temperature because if not I find it hard to write and concentrate. I make sure I have a drink and that my stomach isn't empty, and I find in the Autumn I start to get extra hungry.  I also like to be in comfortable warm and in cosy clothes and wrapped up and have good lighting. In Autumn I like to go for walks, wrapped ...

Managing my time

Image
As a writer it is important for me to manage my time, so I can focus on working on my blogs, books and looking after my son and creating videos. I also want to work in Healthcare or Childcare too, to help me build my content and support others.  I plan for the week ahead aswell as daily because of important dates and working around appointments and recently around train strikes and my son school holidays. This week is his last week of school and the summer holidays begin and I have to work around that and that I remember dates and making sure my son has fun and enjoys the holidays.  It means creating a different schedule so I can still get my videos up, blogs and work on my book, but managing it so I don't have so much to do. What we are avoiding is burn out.  Taking a break is important, as sitting in front of my laptop all the time can cause mind blank, so get out and I find when out is and go for a walk with my son helps to generate ideas for my books and blogs, along ...

When life takes over

Image
I am writing my next book, and I really have to schedule this time to make sure I spend time with my son and do other tasks, like doing my laundry, going through emails and travelling.  What I have found to be helpful is to do sprints of writing even if it is ten minutes and by doing this I completed my first draft and now editing to do draft two and then will edit it again.  Planning helps and setting goals, I plan weekly and setting goals quarterly and monthly and now I have gotten my first draft done I am going to set further goals to get the book ready for publishing, as I really want to write a Christmas book this year and republish one of my EBooks once this has been rewritten.  Have time off. My weekends are with my son, and we go for walks, play games, sports and travelling and just getting a good amount of fresh air and will work on my book, some times on a Sunday, but is my day where I will plan and get ready for another weekend ahead.  So often I will begi...

The right environment to get writing

Image
When it comes to writing it is finding the time where you can sit down have a podcast on or some music and go through what you have written and what is left to write. I am currently working on a new book and I find writing in the mornings hard, so have been writing in the afternoon and in the evening.  It is not always possible to write at that time because I go over to wait for my son to return from school, so before I leave to get to his dads house I will do some writing and in the evening.  I can't decide if I am a morning person or a night owl, because I do like to get up early but I find it hard and now the clocks have changed in the UK it is taking me a while to adjust to that time change, but do like the lighter mornings and evenings, so soon I will be able to do some writing in the garden and be good to be outdoors with the sunshine.  Find a good location to write can really make a difference and can really help with ideas for books and reading in the park. Set th...

Getting in the mood to write

Image
Being a mum you never know what the week will bring, and so finding time to write can often be tricky. I use the mornings and evenings, because I don't want to be taking my laptop over to where my son lives because I don't like to carry too much.  I schedule and before I begin play some music and watch Youtube on writing and so setting the scene is the first tip I'd give.  With writing I will get spontaneous moments to write and vision myself doing so and develop a story gives me such a buzz and it is like a jigsaw to me and so when I get the urge to write I will make sure I jot it down in that moment and as I go through the story I will use file cards or write it down, and plot and think of different ideas.  Deciding on a time to write can be a challenge, and so planning the week and time can make a difference, and so go through your schedule and use it as me time, and doing sprints like ten minutes a good way to get into the mood and challenge yourself of how much you c...
