World Book Day-For the love of books
Today it is World Book day and my son has gone school dressed as a chef because he has a book called Chef Henry which my mum made for him. I can't remember having World Book day when I was at school, I remember at Nursery School dressing up as Aladdin and at school doing fancy dress and it such a fun day, but not based on books.

It is great to find a book you love and can pass down to the next generation and this week I plan on going through my sons books and glad books like the Famous Five are still being read and the book I bought for my son once he is older is Charlottes Web. I love that story and why I still read today.
Reading is so important and read different type of books and as a writer is important that I do read. Not to copy but look at the style and the words used and inspiration that a book can give. I am at the moment reading one of the books called The Walking Dead. It is a bit gory and not my usual sort of book, but I like reading different ones and read every morning and evening.
I often will set the scene by listening to chill out music whilst I read depending on the time of the day and do listen to audio books, mainly self help but is a good alternative.
As a kid I had a tape recorder and had story ones and loved them. Books can be a great gift and World Book day is revolutionary because they open your mind and help to forget your troubles, help the imagination and creative side of our minds.
It is a great way to share your knowledge. My first book I wrote was a parenting book and my story of being pregnant for the first time, to having my son and how I felt emotionally and in a comical way. I wanted to write about it because I created a blog and there are many things that noone tells you. I had trouble breastfeeding, when my son would have a meltdown and toilet accidents. How long that can last and do plan to write a new book, but books are great to communicate and pass your experiences on and I like the self publishing community and check out Good Reads, as great place discover books, Charity shops and on Amazon,
So I hope you children and yourself enjoy the day and celebrate those books.
Many thanks for reading,
Carrie X
